SEPTEMBER and OCTOBER
Students learned the hand building technique of a pinch pot and applied the technique of scoring to add clay pieces, carved or altered the form of their pot to create visual interest and originality to their pot. Students learned how to make uniform slabs and scored the joints of slabs to join and construct their project. Most students made clay mugs and made handles by using slab, rolling a coil or pulling a handle.
Students have learned how to form a Pinch pot and join those pots to form a 3D sphere. Students paddled the form and then added a slab neck. Students needed to consider FORM,SIMPLICITY and MOVEMENT. The neck should demonstrate balance, harmony, unity and movement. Students looked at the work of Joyce Michaud as inspiration for their construction and glazing style.
