CLASS OBJECTIVE: The Ceramics curriculum is designed to introduce basic hand building techniques while presenting new design challenges for returning students.
CLASS CONTENT: Handbuilding techniques such as pinch pot, slab construction, and coiling will be learned and applied by students to create original artwork that incorporates ideas from observation and the imagination. Students will understand and apply the process of wedging, scoring and glazing to their ceramic work. Students will understand basic kiln firing processes such as glaze vitrification. Potter wheel opportunities with guided instruction will be available for interested students but is not considered as graded assignment. |
